Smokies Day Two -- old stuff and gobblers too!

Off to the auto tour of Cades Cove for an eleven mile drive back in time. In the 1900's about 125 families lived along the route. There are over 70 historic buildings within the Great Smoky Nat'l Park. We walked through old homes(1820), churches (1887) and cemeteries. We finally saw some critters too!

Lions....no
Tigers...no

Smokies Day One --- us and the water

Waterfalls galore.

Smokies -- Day 1 -- a dome?

What a beautiful place. I really need to see this area in the fall. I bet I would never forget the colors. Clingmans Dome, 2nd highest point in the Smokies. Nature at it's finest.

Off to the Great Smoky Mountains via an interesting town!

Hiawassee Georgia was a very interesting area. I think we could live there. The town is on the state border of GA and NC. Chatuge Lake is huge and seems to go for mile after mile.

Helen, GA

We spent two nights here exploring the Blue Ridge Mountains. Whenever there are waterfalls around we like to see them.

Tallulah Gorge and Black Rock Mountain State Parks

Tallulah Gorge involved 313 steps down. Then across a suspension bridge and 313 steps back up the other side. I did 313 down and the same 313 back up. I did jump on the bridge, ha. Black Rock had a great view but NO water. We also saw goats on the roof today.

It's always about the water!

Waterfalls are everywhere.

Riding Around the Blue Ridge Mountains

Grab the map and what can you find?

Brasstown Bald

We hiked to the highest point in GA. You can see 4 states from the top. Can you guess which four? Yep....GA, TN, NC and SC. The hike wasn't hard. The view from the top was worth every step.
