Sunday Words of Wisdom!

Three Trees

Once there were three trees on a hill in the woods. They were discussing their hopes and dreams when the first tree said, 'Someday I hope to be a treasure chest. I could be filled with gold, silver and precious gems. I could be decorated with intricate carving and everyone would see the beauty.'

Then the second tree said, 'Someday I will be a mighty ship. I will take Kings and Queens across the waters and sail to the corners of the world. Everyone will feel safe in me because of the strength of my hull.'

Finally the third tree said, 'I want to grow to be the tallest and straightest tree in the forest. People will see me on top of the hill and look up to my branches, and think of the heavens and God and how close to them I am reaching. I will be the greatest tree of all time and people will always remember me.'

After a few years of praying that their dreams would come true, a group of woodsmen came upon the trees. When one came to the first tree he said, 'This looks like a strong tree, I think I should be able to sell the wood to a carpenter,' and he began cutting it down. The tree was happy, because he knew that the carpenter would make him into a treasure chest.

At the second tree the woodsman said, 'This looks like a strong tree. I should be able to sell it to the shipyard.' The second tree was happy because he knew he was on his way to becoming a mighty ship.

When the woodsmen came upon the third tree, the tree was frightened because he knew that if they cut him down his dreams would not come true. One of the woodsmen said, 'I don't need anything special from my tree, I'll take this one,' and he cut it down.

When the first tree arrived at the carpenters, he was made into a feed box for animals. He was then placed in a barn and filled with hay. This was not at all what he had prayed for.

The second tree was cut and made into a small fishing boat. His dreams of being a mighty ship and carrying kings had come to an end.

The third tree was cut into large pieces, and left alone in the dark.

The years went by, and the trees forgot about their dreams.

Then one day, a man and woman came to the barn. She gave birth and they placed the baby in the hay in the feed box that was made from the first tree. The man wished that he could have made a crib for the baby, but this manger would have to do. The tree could feel the importance of this event and knew that it had held the greatest treasure of all time.

Years later, a group of men got in the fishing boat made from the second tree. One of them was tired and went to sleep. While they were out on the water, a great storm arose and the tree didn't think it was strong enough to keep the men safe. The men woke the sleeping man, and He stood and said 'Peace, Be still” and the storm stopped. At this time, the tree knew that it had carried the King of Kings in its boat.

Finally, someone came and got the third tree. It was carried through the streets as the people mocked the man who was carrying it. When they came to a stop, the man was nailed to the tree and raised in the air to die at the top of a hill. When Sunday came, the tree came to realize that it was strong enough to stand at the top of the hill and be as close to God as was possible, because Jesus had been crucified on it.

The moral of this story is that when things don't seem to be going your way, always know that God has a plan for you. If you place your trust in Him, God will give you great gifts.

Each of the trees got what they wanted, just not in the way they had imagined.

We don't always know what God's plans are for us. We just know that His Ways are not our ways, but His ways are always best.

Pass it on, so God may inspire more people on The Way.

May your day be blessed. And until we meet again, may God cradle you in the palm of His hand.

Red Cliff Cemetery and off to: Dennis & Sharon's and Mayno.

The casino in Red Cliff was a n Indian casino so I suppose the houses in the cemetery has some significants.  Hum..... Could it be this?  The use of caves for burial was a practice of Native Americans in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan for at least 2,000 years.

Our site at the casino.  Lake Superior in the background.

Across the bridge to MN.

Sarah's first DQ.

THAT WAS GOOD!

................Christian One Liners ............................

Don't let your worries get the best of you; Remember, Moses started out as a basket case.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*
Some people are kind, polite, and sweet-spirited
Until you try to sit in their pews.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*
Many folks want to serve God,

But only as advisers.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*
It is easier to preach ten sermons

Than it is to live one.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

The good Lord didn't create anything without a purpose,
But mosquitoes come close.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

When you get to your wit's end,
You'll find God lives there.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

People are funny; they want the front of the bus,
Middle of the road,
And back of the church.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*
Opportunity may knock once,
But temptation bangs on the front door forever.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

Quit griping about your church;

If it was perfect, you couldn't belong.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

If a church wants a better pastor,
It only needs to pray for the one it has.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

We're called to be witnesses, not lawyers or Judges.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

God Himself doesn't propose to judge a man until
he is dead. So why should you?

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

Some minds are like concrete

Thoroughly mixed up and permanently set.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

Peace starts with a smile.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*
I don't know why some people change churches;
What difference does it make which one you stay home from?

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*
Be ye fishers of men. You catch 'em - He'll clean 'em.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

Stop, Drop, and Roll won't work in Hell.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

Coincidence is when God chooses to remain anonymous.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

Don't put a question mark where God put a period.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

Don't wait for 6 strong men to take you to church.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

Forbidden fruits create many jams.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

God doesn't call the qualified, He qualifies the called.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

God grades on the cross, not the curve.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

God loves everyone,
But probably prefers 'fruits of the spirit' over 'religious nuts!'

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

God promises a safe landing, not a calm passage..

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

He who angers you, controls you!

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

If God is your Co-pilot, swap seats!

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

Prayer:
Don't give God instructions, just report for duty!

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

The task ahead of us is never as
great as the Power behind us.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

The Will of God never takes you to where the
Grace of God will not protect you.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

We don't change the message,
The message changes us.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

You can tell how big a person is
By what it takes to discourage him/her.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*
The best mathematical equation I have ever seen:
1 cross + 3 nails = 4 given.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*
If this blessed you in a profound way today,

Share it with a few friends to bless them!

I bet someone else will LOVE it too.

There is no
greater treasure than a good friend!

Sunday Joke.

DEAR ABBY ADMITTED SHE WAS AT A LOSS TO ANSWER THE FOLLOWING:

Dear Abby,
A couple of women moved in across the hall from me. One is a middle-aged gym teacher and the other is a social worker in her mid twenties. These two women go everywhere together, and I've never seen a man go into or leave their apartment. Do you think they could be Lebanese?

Dear Abby,
What can I do about all the Sex, Nudity, Fowl Language and Violence on my VCR?

Dear Abby,
I have a man I can't trust. He cheats so much, I'm not even sure the baby I'm carrying is his.

Dear Abby,
I am a twenty-three year old liberated woman who has been on the pill for two years. It's getting expensive and I think my boyfriend should share half the cost, but I don't know him well enough to discuss money with him.

Dear Abby,
I've suspected that my husband has been fooling around, and when confronted with the evidence, he denied everything and said it would never happen again.

Dear Abby,
Our son writes that he is taking Judo. Why would a boy who was raised in a good Christian home turn against his own?

Dear Abby,
I joined the Navy to see the world. I've seen it. Now how do I get out?

Dear Abby,
My forty year old son has been paying a psychiatrist $50.00 an hour every week for two and a half years. He must be crazy.

Dear Abby,
I was married to Bill for three months and I didn't know he drank until one night he came home sober.

Dear Abby,
My mother is mean and short tempered I think she is going through mental pause.

Dear Abby,
You told some woman whose husband had lost all interest in sex to send him to a doctor. Well, my husband lost all interest in sex and he is a doctor. Now what do I do?

Day 2 Lake Superior and the Apostle Islands.

The forecast was for rain so Dave & Luc got up early to see if they could get to Devil's Island to see the coast with the sea caves.  He got within 2 miles and just couldn't go any further.  He did putter around for another 40 miles total that day.  They did go in 1 cave.  Sarah and I stayed in Bed.  SURPRISE!  I have a great story to tell about the casino.  One afternoon I went to see what it was all about.  They did have the Deal or No Deal machine that Phil, Kathy and I had such a good time on in ALB.  However Phil & Kathy were not there. Dammit!  There was NEVER a soul playing it. They also had the Bee machine that Phil had such good luck on in ALB.  So I thought I would give that a try.  After about 45 minutes I was up from 20 to 34.00 hummm...cash out and home I went.  God you can teach an old dog a new trick.  The next opportunity came when Dave was dumping us so we could mosey on down the road.  I went in for 15 minutes.  I turned a 20 to 36 again.  Boy this is fun.  Cash out bye, bye.  About every 3 spins would be a bonus.  If it didn't happen I would cash out and then put my money in again. Humm...new strategy to try next time inALB.

Clear water.

The only cave.

Red Cliff and Lake Superior.

We left Dick and Donna's headed for Lake Superior.  We camped at the Legendary Waters Resort and Casino in Red Cliff.

We were going to camp were Dick and Donna suggested said but the gal at the coolest Visitor's Center in the US, Northern Great Lakes Visitor's Center, told us the Casino was right on the water and closer to were we wanted to go boating.  If you ever get to Ashland Wisconsin check out the town for all the murals and visit the Visitor's Center outside of town.

Camping at the casino.
Here is Sarah in the boat for the first time with her life jacket on!

See the horse chess piece?

Cool shoreline but not as cool as we were searching for.

We saw some kayakers.

It was a cold ride back to camp.  We put on 40 miles and did not see the sea caves we wanted to see.

Later we went for a car ride. If there are any waterfall we'll find them.  These were way disappointing.

The view of Lake Superior out our back window.
