We met Irma & Denny in Dubuque to pick up our electric plug for the Video Camcorder. Dave left it at the barn. Day 2 started there. They told us to go to the Grotto in Dickeyville, WI. so we headed that way. A bit of history of the Grotto. It was constructed on Holy Ghost Parish grounds, by Father Matthias Wernerus from 1925-1930, is dedicated to the unity of two great American ideals----love of God and love of country. It is a creation in stone, mortar, and bright colored objects--collected materials from all over the world. Some examples: colored glass, coral, gems, antique heirlooms, sea shells and onxy. There were many, many more. Just remember that there were NO: computers, Starbucks, McDonald's or TV. Might as well make a Grotto.
